The Iranian private sector automakers have produced nearly 67,000 vehicles in the first three months of the current calendar year (March 21 – June 21), according to a report by IRNA news agency.
The figure posted a 96% rise compared to private sector output reported in last year’s same period (34,114 vehicles).
The report put the share of the Iranian private sector from the country’s auto output at 21%.
Modiran Khodro Company produced as much as 28,930 vehicles in the three-month period to become the top Iranian private sector automaker, followed by Bahman Group (with 16,015 vehicles), Arian Pars Motor (with 3,067 vehicles), Farda Motors (with 1,807 vehicles) and other private sector automakers which produced some 5,195 vehicles altogether in the period under review.
A senior official at Iran’s industry ministry (MIMT) said early in April that the country’s vehicle production hit an all-time record high in the calendar year to late March despite a significant reduction in the production of foreign brands under the complete knock down (CKD) arrangement.
Abdollah Tavakoli, who leads MIMT’s automotive industries department, said that the total number of home-made vehicles sold in the year to March 20 had reached over 1.347 units, including 1.242 million new vehicles and some 105,000 unfinished vehicles that were completed and delivered to the customers.
He said the figure was an increase of 39% compared to Iran’s vehicle output in the calendar year to March 2022.
