An average of 120 million litter per day of gasoline is being consumed in Iran, according to a senior oil official.

Ali-Akbar Nejadali, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC), disclosed the figure during a visit by First Vice-President Mohammad Mokhber to a number of gas stations.

He said that the figure is up 13% compared to that reported in the preceding year.

Nejadali also said that Iran has set a record daily consumption of 142 million liters this year.

Noting that reports received from gas stations across the country suggest that there has been no problem in meeting the growing demands for gasoline, the official refuted claims by certain foreign-based hostile media about difficulty in providing gasoline to consumers.
