Iran’s five-month auto output hits 537,000

As much as 537,000 cars has been produced by Iranian carmakers in the first five months of the Iranian calendar year (March 21 – August 22), according to a senior official with the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade (MIMT).

As much as 537,000 cars has been produced by Iranian carmakers in the first five months of the Iranian calendar year (March 21 – August 22), according to a senior official with the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade (MIMT).

Abdollah Tavakkoli Lahijani, the MIMT director of auto industries department, said on Monday that the private sector accounted for 21% of the country’s aggregate auto making in the five-month period.

The official noted that over 112,000 cars were produced by Iranian private sector in the period under review which shows a roughly 78% year-on-year increase when compared to 63,000 cars produced by the private sector in last year’s corresponding period.

Iran’s vehicle production hit an all-time record high with the total number of home-made vehicles sold in the year to March 20 reaching over 1.347 units, including 1.242 million new vehicles and some 105,000 unfinished vehicles that were completed and delivered to the customers.
