The value of saffron exports from Iran has experienced a 52% growth in the five months to August 22, according to Rouhollah Latifi, the spokesman of the Iranian House of Industry, Mine and Trade’s Trade Development Commission.
A total of 81,521 kg of saffron worth $88 million were exported to 47 countries in the five-month period, posting a 66% growth in weight and 52% in value, Latifi said.
He stated that China has been the top export destination for Iranian saffron, importing 28,447 kg worth $33,3 million of the spice in the time span.
The UAE, Spain, Qatar, and Afghanistan were the other top destinations for Iranian saffron exports respectively.
