Transport companies from Russia’s Novosibirsk region have attended the 10th International Exhibition of Rail Transportation & Related Industries (Iran Rail Expo) in Tehran.
The Russian companies and their Iranian counterparts signed four cooperation agreements on the sidelines of the event where more than 70 B2B and expert-level meetings were held between the two sides.
The Russian representatives also visited two cargo loading terminals at Iran’s northern port of Anzali and got more familiar with the potentials of the port.
The Iranian and the Russian sides highlighted the significance of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), which is a multimodal transit corridor running through India to Russia via Iranian soil.

Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Khatibi had said last week that the transit of commodities via the INSTC corridor is 30% more efficient both in terms of time and cost than the standard route which runs through the Suez Channel.
Russian Deputy Transportation Minister Dmitry Zverev has recently expressed hope that his country will begin construction of Rasht-Astara railroad, which is regarded as a key part of the INSTC project, by the end of 2023.
