Iran’s H1 auto production up 23% YOY

Iran’s auto production in the first six months of the current calendar year (March 21 – September 22) has grown by 23% year-on-year, according to a recent report by the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade (MIMT).

Iran’s auto production in the first six months of the current calendar year (March 21 – September 22) has grown by 23% year-on-year, according to a recent report by the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade (MIMT).

The MIMT report said that Iran produced as much as 642,930 vehicles in the six-month period, posting a 23% increase compared to 524,256 vehicles produced in last year’s corresponding period.

The number of vehicles produced in the calendar month of Shahrivar (August 23 – September 22) stood at 89,054 which is up 3% in comparison to 86,451 vehicles reported in the same month of last year.

Iran’s production of sedan cars also totaled 545,180 in the period under review, registering a 19% increase in comparison to figures reported in the same period of last year (456,617).

Abdollah Tavakoli, a senior MIMT official said early in April that Iran’s auto production hit an all-time record high of 1.347 million in the last year to late March.

The figure included 1.242 million new vehicles and some 105,000 unfinished vehicles that were completed and delivered to the customers.
