Iran has exported some $137 million worth of pistachio to other countries during the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 – September 22), according to a recent report by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
The IRICA report suggested that Iran has exported around 20,000 metric tons (mt) of high-quality pistachio in the six-month period, posting a 7% increase compared to last year’s corresponding period.
Pistachio exports are responsible for some 11% of the total value of Iran's agricultural exports and 0.57% of the total value of the country’s non-oil exports during the mentioned period.
Russia, Germany, the UAE, India and Kyrgyzstan were the top five destinations for Iranian pistachio accounting for 57.7% of Iran’s total value of exports of the nut in the period under review.
