Iran’s private sector has produced as many as 250,000 vehicles in the 10 calendar months to January 20 which accounts for some 23% of the country’s total auto output in the period, according to a senior official with the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade (MIMT).
Mehrdad Khosravi, the director of MIMT department for auto industries, said that the vehicles produced by the private sector in the 10-month period are 66% more than that of last year’s corresponding period when the private sector auto output stood at 151,000.
The official put the country’s total car output at 1.107 million vehicles in the period under review.
Khosravi said that Iran has produced some 937,000 sedan vehicles in the mentioned period, posting a 9% increase compared to the same period of last year when the figure stood at 863,000.
The country has also produced some 135,000 pick-up trucks in the mentioned period, posting a 34% year-on-year growth, the official said.
He added that Iran’s production of heavy vehicles has also registered an 18% year-on-year rise.
