Iranian food industries account for some 0.3% of the global food exports, according to a private sector actor familiar with the matter.
Abolhassan Khalili, the chairman of the Food Industries Commission of Iran Chamber of Commerce, said that the total food exports of the world stood at $700 billion in 2023.
He put the value of Iran’s food exports in the calendar year to late March at $1.811 billion.
The figure shows some 14% growth compared to $1.580 billion a year earlier, Khalili said.
Dairy products, sweets and chocolate, drinks, meat and meat products are the main food items exported across the world, he said.
He noted that there are huge demands for Iranian Halal products among both Muslim and non-Muslim counties, he noted, adding that the Iranian companies have to take advantage of this potential.
