Head of Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce Mahmoud Siadat says that Afghan businesspeople have made as much as $3 billion worth of investment in Iran.

He said that more than 50% of the foreign companies registered in Iran belong to the Afghan people.

Siadat cited Khan Jan Alokozay, Deputy head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), who claimed that Afghan economic actors have made more than $3 billion of investment in Iran.

He vowed Iran’s support for the Afghan investments which he said would lead to economic prosperity for both Iran and Afghanistan.

In December 2022, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the Iranian president’s special envoy for Afghanistan, said that Afghan nationals accounted for half of Iran’s foreign investment in the year.
