The president of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) has urged economic and industrial players to support the government’s “Two Degrees Lower” campaign, aimed at easing the country’s energy imbalance.
Speaking to the country’s IRNA state news agency on Monday, Samad Hassanzadeh emphasized the need for national participation, stating, “I believe the entire nation must join this initiative, as the country faces challenges in energy imbalances and shortages of fuel, electricity, and gas.”
His comments follow a recent call by President Masoud Pezeshkian, who urged citizens to lower indoor heating temperatures by at least two degrees to conserve energy supplies. “It is the responsibility of all citizens to contribute to this effort,” Hassanzadeh said.
Hassanzadeh described the campaign as a short-term measure to support the country’s economy and industrial sector while highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing energy deficits through long-term infrastructure solutions.
“While this campaign helps supply energy to production and industrial units, fundamental measures must be taken to resolve energy imbalances,” he noted.
Iran’s President had earlier released a video message urging citizens to reduce heating by at least two degrees so as to conserve fuel and ensure supply for everyone.
The initiative comes amid mounting energy consumption pressures during colder months, with authorities seeking public cooperation to manage demand.
