The 14th Iran International Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Exhibition opened in Tehran on Thursday, January 2.

Some 150 domestic companies and 19 foreign companies from Austria, China, the UAE, Germany, Oman and Turkey are expected to showcase their latest achievements in the four-day event.

The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran is said to sign six memoranda of understanding with domestic sector companies on renewable industry.

Government Spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani posted on X on Friday that Iran’s installed renewable power generation capacity has increased by 23% in five months.

She said that the country’s renewable power generation which stood at 1,231 megawatts when President Masoud Pezeshkian took office in July 30, has now witnessed a 289-megawatt increase.

Iran seeks to boost its renewable power generation as it has been facing rolling blackouts during the cold days when the authorities have to reduce the supply of gas to power plants so as to be able to continue pumping gas into nationwide pipelines to ensure the domestic heating for the citizens.
