As Iran begins drafting its 2051 Vision Plan, economist Vahid Shaghaghi Shahri underscored the importance of addressing the country's structural challenges and fostering a robust private sector for sustainable progress.
Speaking with Iran Chamber of Commerce newsroom, Shaghaghi Shari, a faculty member at Kharazmi University’s Economics Department, emphasized the necessity of structural and institutional reforms for economic advancement.
“Without a competitive, efficient, and developed private sector, we cannot manage the country effectively,” Shaghaghi Shari said. He urged policymakers to reach a consensus on prioritizing the private sector's role in Iran’s future development.
Shaghaghi Shari also called for creating a supportive and competitive business environment to expand the private sector's contribution to the economy.
“Policymakers must confront the country’s mega-challenges and abandon unrealistic expectations. Solving these issues requires pragmatism and clear-eyed realism,” he stated.
As the current 20-year plan nears its conclusion, the Iran Chamber of Commerce's Research Center is working to gather expert opinions from across the country to help shape a new Vision 2051.
