Iran’s Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi has said that the country has a three-year plan for growing its renewable energy generation capacity.
Aliabadi said that the number of its renewable power plants will be increased by 25 fold within the next three years.
On attracting foreign investment for these projects, the minister said that investment in Iran’s renewable industry is safe and the country guarantees the return of the investors’ capital.
“There is investment in renewables themselves. For every kilowatt-hour of electricity we produce, we consume fuel, and the consumed fuel has a high value.”
He also referred to the chances of the sanctions imposed on Iran could be lifted in the water and electricity sectors, noting that Iran is prepared for negotiations provided its independence and national sovereignty are respected and will not engage in “disgraceful negotiations”.
