Iran’s Supreme Labor Council approved a 45% increase in the country’s minimum wage for the upcoming year during a meeting on Saturday.

Under the new decision, minimum wage earners will receive 103 million rials per month, up from 71 million rials this year.

The council also approved a 32% wage increase for other worker categories, along with an additional 310,535 rials per day.

Ahmad Meidari, Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare, stated that pensions for retirees would be adjusted using the same formula, with further details expected to be announced within the next 48 hours.

Iran had earlier announced plans to raise the minimum wage to a level that would offset the impact of soaring inflation.
