Iran’s non-oil trade with neighbors up 21% in 2024, customs chief says

Iran’s non-oil trade with 15 neighboring countries rose by 21% in the past Iranian year to March 19, 2025, reaching $74.32 billion, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) said on Thursday.

Iran’s non-oil trade with 15 neighboring countries rose by 21% in the past Iranian year to March 19, 2025, reaching $74.32 billion, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) said on Thursday.

Faroud Asgari said the total volume of trade amounted to 112.81 million tons, marking a 16% increase compared to the previous year.

The United Arab Emirates was Iran’s top non-oil trading partner among its neighbors, accounting for $29.18 billion in trade, followed by Turkey with $19.36 billion, Iraq with $12.51 billion, Pakistan with $3.13 billion, and Afghanistan with $2.48 billion, Asgari said.

He added that of the total trade volume with neighboring states, 89.38 million tons worth $36.01 billion were exports, while 23.43 million tons worth $38.31 billion were imports.
