The Newly appointed economy minister said his top priority is to strengthen the country’s real private sector and expand public participation in the economy.

Speaking at his first meeting of the Government-Private Sector Dialogue Council at Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Ali Madanizadeh, emphasized the need to reduce state control and empower private enterprise through the simultaneous transfer of ownership and management of state-run businesses.

“My tenure began during wartime, amid the 12-day imposed war,” Madanizadeh said. “We immediately launched countermeasures appropriate for the wartime conditions.”

Madanizadeh praised the unity and resilience shown by the Iranian public, especially the country’s producers, business owners, and trade guilds, in maintaining stability and ensuring continued access to essential goods during the crisis.

He also highlighted the government’s approval of several support packages aimed at large, small, and medium-sized enterprises, expressing hope that these measures would gradually help offset the damages sustained by industries during the recent aggression.

“The number one item on my agenda is to scale back government intervention and develop a genuine private sector while boosting citizen engagement in economic activity,” he reiterated.
