The president of Iran Chamber of Commerce has called for the creation of a joint council among Islamic countries to strengthen economic, educational and social foundations in Palestine, saying the private sector had a responsibility to help ease the impact of decades of conflict.
Samad Hassanzadeh made the proposal on Sunday after the president of the Palestinian Chamber of Commerce addressed a meeting of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) in Amman.
Hassanzadeh said that the Iran Chamber was ready to offer training programs to support Palestinians, adding that “decades of political disputes, war and displacement have left the Palestinian people with painful experiences.”
He urged Islamic chambers to back efforts to rebuild economic structures, expand small industries, develop agricultural and food production, encourage regional business initiatives and adopt new technologies to improve living conditions for Palestinians.
Hassanzadeh also suggested measures such as promoting purchases of Palestinian products across Islamic countries, organizing exhibitions and trade fairs to showcase Palestinian capabilities, and inviting Palestinian business representatives to regional economic events.
He further proposed dedicating a “Day of Support for Economic Cooperation in the Islamic World” with a focus on Palestine, offering scholarships for Palestinian students in Islamic countries, and establishing cultural and educational centers to help train younger generations.
“The responsibility of all Islamic countries, especially toward Palestine, is immense,” he said, expressing hope for peace and security across the Islamic world.
