Iran transported more than 345 million tons of goods through its road network during the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 – October 22), marking a 2.8% increase compared with the same period last year, a senior transport official said on Sunday.
Mehrdad Hamdollahi, Director General of the Road Freight Transport Office at the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, said around 14 million tons of essential commodities were moved from the country’s ports during the period, representing 16% growth year-on-year.
He added that shipments of minerals and construction materials exceeded 114 million tons, showing a 4.7% rise compared with the corresponding period last year.
The figures highlight continued growth in Iran’s domestic transport sector, supported by higher movement of key goods despite broader economic pressures.
