A board member of Iran Chamber of Commerce says that achieving the 13% growth target set for the mining and mineral industries in the country’s seventh development plan requires stronger government support and policy alignment with the private sector.

Abdollah Mohajer Darabi made the remarks during a visit to the Iran ConMine 2025 exhibition in Tehran on Wednesday, stressing that the government should revise its approach and introduce incentives to encourage private investment in the mining sector.

He added that both policymakers and private operators must engage more actively in identifying and exploring mines containing rare elements to keep pace with global developments.

Mohajer Darabi also highlighted the need to curb the export of unprocessed raw materials, noting that a large portion of gemstones from South Khorasan province are currently exported to Europe in raw form. He said domestic investors could focus on processing such resources to add value and prevent the outflow of unrefined minerals.
