A board member of Iran Chamber of Commerce has called for stronger private-sector engagement, easier trade procedures and improved export infrastructure to boost economic exchanges between Iran and Uzbekistan.

Addressing an Iran-Uzbekistan business forum in Tashkent on Wednesday, Abdollah Mohajer Darabi said that expanding private-sector interactions and making better use of logistics capacity would be key to raising bilateral trade.

He said such forums provide an effective platform to showcase the capabilities of Iran’s provinces and to establish direct links between Iranian and Uzbek business communities, potentially leading to the signing of practical memorandums of understanding and commercial contracts.

Mohajer Darabi highlighted the potential of Iran’s northern Mazandaran province, describing it as one of the country’s main agricultural production hubs with significant capacity in production, processing and exports, adding that it could help meet part of Uzbekistan’s market demand.
