Iran’s Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) stood at 46.4 in the month to February 19, marking a continued contraction in economic activity but at a somewhat slower pace than the previous month, according to a report published by the research center of the Iran Chamber of Commerce.

The PMI remains below the threshold of 50, which separates contraction from expansion.

The report showed that the sub-index for production or service delivery stood at 47.5 in this month, while the index for new customer orders registered 44.6, indicating weak demand.

The chamber’s research center said addressing working capital constraints, improving management efficiency, strengthening business confidence, and boosting demand – particularly through government-led stimulus for essential goods purchases by households – could help resolve some of the economy’s difficulties.
