Agricensus expects Iran’s wheat imports to triple

Iran is expected to more than triple its wheat imports in the 2021-22 marketing year and could import up to 8 million tons after hot and dry weather conditions in the region, while at least half of the needed volume has already been covered, according to the London-based agency Agricensus.

Iran imports more wheat to make up for decline in domestic output

A total of 1,945,421 tons of wheat were unloaded from 122 vessels at Iranian ports during the first half of the current fiscal year (March 21-Sept. 22), according to Farhad Montasar-Kouhsari, the deputy head of Ports and Maritime Organization.
