Iran’s cement exports have grown by 12 percent in nearly two years, according to figures by Iran’s Cement Industry Producers Association.
Iran exported 10.5 million metric tons (mt) of cement to 25 countries, including Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria, over the nine months to November 21, 2023, an industry source has said.
Iran has reported a major increase in exports of cement clinker in the five months to late August although figures show that overseas shipments of finished cement dropped slightly over the same period.
Iran’s ministry of trade (MIMT) has imposed a tariff of 18% on exports of raw steel, cement and some key metals to prevent supply shortages and price rises that could cause problems for local industries.
