The vice president of Iran Chamber of Commerce presented the Iran’s investment opportunities for foreign investors at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2016 (SPIEF-2016).
Pedram Soltani, vice president of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), attended an SPIEF-2016 session on post-sanctions Iran economy and discussed the country’s investment atmosphere and opportunities emerging following the implementation of the landmark nuclear agreement reached between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries in July 2014.
Speaking at the roundtable named ‘Life after Sanctions: Re-Integrating Iran into the Global Economy’, Soltani categorized the feasible investment opportunities in Iran into five groups of natural resource and related industries; transportation; tourism; human resources, technology-based industries and e-business; and consumer market.
Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, Hossein Yaghoubi Miab, Director General, International Affairs Department, Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran (CBI), and Mehdi Sanai, Iran’s ambassador to Russia were also present at the roundtable discussing Iran’s new economic and investment opportunities.
Iran Chamber of Commerce vice president further mentioned recent legal and regulatory reforms by Iran’s government which is transforming the country towards acquiring a “more hospitable atmosphere for business”.
“Iran, of course, has some problems in terms of investment regulations but things are improving,” he said. “The private sector is keenly working with the government in order to improve the business environment.”

Over the past decade, it has grown into a leading global platform for conversations among representatives of the business community and as a venue to discuss key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets, and the world. St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, held on June 16-18, 2016, was attended by more than 10,000 participants from Russia and across the globe, including heads of state and government of emerging countries, leaders of major companies, and the world's leading experts including academics, the media, and civil society figures.
