Iran’s exports of mining products climbed to a record $1.29 billion in the Iranian calendar month ending in June 21, according to customs statistics.
Experts believe that a surge in global prices has led to a growth in production of mining products over the past four months.
The report says that the exports of these products have posted a 465% growth since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
Iranian big producers exported more than 2.07 million tons of steel in spring which shows a 128% increase in comparison to last year’s corresponding period.
Today, more than 60 billion tons of mineral reserves have been identified in the country, some 37 billion tons of which are proven reserves and the rest are probable.
Also some 68 minerals are being extracted from Iranian mines, a bigger share of which belongs to constructional minerals, with metals having a less share.
Construction materials accounted for 70 percent of total exports of $10 billion from Iran’s mining industry over the past calendar year, Acting Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Ja’far Sarqeini said on September 12, 2020.
