President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholam Hossein Shafei on Tuesday urged the need for cooperation between Iran and Belgium on renewable energies.
Shafei made the remarks in a meeting with Belgian Ambassador to Iran Gian Marco Rizzo.
He regretted that bilateral trade between Iran and Belgium has fell to $350 million due to the outbreak of the coronavirus disease.
Referring to good agreements signed between the two countries, the Iran Chamber chief called for implementing an agreement on preventing double taxation of businesspersons in bilateral trade.
Shafei also said that Belgium can help Iran in renovation of its industries and exploitation of modern irrigation technologies.
He urged both countries to have more trade through Iran’s Bandar Abbas Port and Belgium’s Antwerp Port.
The Belgian ambassador said for his part that his country is a linking bridge in Europe and seeks enhanced interactions with its trade partners.
Rizzo expressed hope for expansion of relations with Iran, noting that Belgium has kept open its trade offices in Iran despite sanctions.
