A total of 51,170 tons of red meat were produced in Iran’s official slaughterhouses during the month ending Feb. 19 to register a 22% rise compared with the similar month of last year, but a 1.3% decrease compared to the previous month.
The Statistical Center of Iran's latest report shows beef accounted for 28,094 tons, or 54.9% of the overall production, indicating a year-on-year increase of 17%.
A total of 19,139 tons of lamb (up 32% YOY), 2,936 tons of goat meat (up 16% YOY) and 1,001 tons of meat from other types of livestock were produced during the one-month period, accounting for 37.4%, 5.7% and 2% of the total output respectively, SCI reported on its website.
