A total of 1.87 million tons of different kinds of livestock feed worth $887 million were imported to Iran during the first two months of the current calendar year (March 21-May 21), according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.
Iran’s ban on export of non-reproductive livestock has been lifted, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported.
A total of 51,170 tons of red meat were produced in Iran’s official slaughterhouses during the month ending Feb. 19 to register a 22% rise compared with the similar month of last year, but a 1.3% decrease compared to the previous month.
The Iranian agriculture ministry (MAJ) has ordered imports of red meat into the country in an attempt to control rising prices in the domestic market.
A total of 54,947 tons of red meat were produced in Iran’s official slaughterhouses during the month ending Dec. 21 to register a 52% rise compared with the similar month of last year and a 0.3% month-on-month decline.
Iran has lifted a ban on exports of live cattle allowing the exports of unproductive cattle.
