Iran is scheduled to open a logistic center in Astrakhan in which Iranian exports to Russia will be kept so as to be sent to other parts of the country, according to a senior member of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA).

Hadi Tizhoush Taban, the head of Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce, said that launching Iran’s trade center in Astrakhan in 2017 was a turning point in economic relations between Iran and Russia.

Tizhoush Taban also referred to the existence of modern international hospitals with highly specialized doctors in Iran and said that “we are negotiating with the Russian side for launching an Iranian health tourism center in Astrakhan” so that the Russian patients can receive medical services in Iran without the need to pay additional costs.

In addition, the seventh edition of Eurasia Commerce and Industry Conference and Exhibition opened in Astrakhan last week.

The event, which was sponsored by Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), kicked off in the Russian port city with the assistance of Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce on October 26.

More than 20 Iranian companies showcased their products in different areas, including constructional materials, health and cosmetics and so on in the four-day event.

These developments are taking place in the relations between Iran and Russia on the eve of a major Russian trade delegation to Iran.

The Russian port of Astrakhan is a hub of commercial activities for nearly 200 Iranian firms making the port their largest center of economic activities in Russia.

Trade between Iran and the city of Astrakhan in Russia stood at $320 million, registering a 15% growth in 2020.
