An Iranian trade center will be inaugurated in Afghanistan by mid-March 2023, Deputy Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Seyyed Mohammad Mousavi announced on Tuesday.
Referring to the $1.5 billion worth of trade between Iran and Afghanistan in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (starting from March 21, 2022), Mousavi expressed hope that following the opening of Iran’s trade center in Afghanistan, the level of relations between Tehran and Kabul will rise, Mehr News Agency wrote.
“We plan to invest in Afghanistan and participate in the sustainable growth of that country,” Mousavi stressed, calling for the Iranian and Afghan businessmen and artisans to use this opportunity and assist in completing Afghanistan’s infrastructure, the thing that the colonialists did not do for Afghanistan.
“We intend to lead Afghanistan towards technology, infrastructure construction, and development,” the deputy industry minister added.
He also noted that Iran can meet Afghanistan’s needs for medical equipment and also train Afghan people in that field.
On Tuesday morning, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, special aide to the Iranian president and caretaker of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul, tweeted that to develop trade and economic cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan, the process of issuing and receiving multiple entry business visas (valid for six months or one year) for Afghan entrepreneurs in five diplomatic missions of Iran in Afghanistan will be accelerated.
