Chairman of the International Investors Association of Georgia, Osman Chalishkan, said that the quality and price of Iranian products, especially in the construction industry, are attractive to Georgia.
Chalishkan, who is visiting Iran at the head of a Georgian delegation, made the remarks in a meeting with Vice-President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Hossein Selahvarzi in Tehran on Tuesday.
He proposed for Iran to hold an exhibition of its constructional industry potentials in Tbilisi or Batumi.
Expressing satisfaction with his Tehran trip, Chalishkan expressed hope that the two sides would play their role in giving a boost to bilateral trade relations.
The Iranian side, for his part, said that trade relations between Iran and Georgia does not match the strong political relations between the two countries.
Selahvarzi said that a $350 million trade between Tehran and Tbilisi is far from the existing potentials.
The vice president of Iran Chamber of Commerce blamed the low level of trade partly on the Western sanctions on Tehran and the restriction caused by the global outbreak of the coronavirus disease.
Noting that the Iran Chamber of Commerce has a good knowledge of the potentials and the needs of Georgia, Selahvarzi said that, Iran has used different methods in its trade with other regional countries to defuse the effects of sanctions which can also be used in trade with Georgia.
