Iran and Turkey traded as much as $2.19 billion worth of goods in the first five months of 2023, according to Turkish official figures.
The data registers a 20% compared to figures reported in last year’s corresponding period.
Data by the Turkish Statistical Institute cited in a Sunday report by the IRNA showed that Turkish exports to Iran hit $1.152 billion in January-May, down 4% year-on-year.
The figures showed Iranian exports to Turkey had reached $1.38 billion over the same period, down 32% from January-April 2023.
In late April, a senior official with the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO), said that Iranian exports to Turkey had jumped by nearly a fourth in the year to late March.
Farzad Piltan, TPO’s head of West Asia Office, said that Iranian exports to Turkey had amounted to $7.45 billion in the calendar year to March 20, up 23% from the previous calendar year.
