Iranian parliament ratified the outlines of a bill for forming Ministry of Commerce.

In an open session on Sunday, a total 129 lawmakers voted in favor of the bill, 101 others voted against it, with 4 abstentions.

The bill takes away the commercial missions of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade (MIMT) and the Ministry of Agriculture (MAJ) and assigns the new ministry to carry out the missions.

In different reports, the Research Center of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) had announced its opposition to the outlines of the bill, proposing different points for making amendments to it.

Iran already had a Ministry of Commerce which merged into the Ministry of Industries and Mines under the administration of former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2011.
