President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Hossein Selahvarzi says enhancement of trade with African countries is a main priority of the chamber of commerce.

Selahvarzi made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran on Sunday with Iran’s newly-appointed ambassador to Guinea Jamshid Parvizi.

He said that the volume of trade between Iran and Guinea is as low as 200,000 dollars which is due to lack of knowledge of businesspeople on both sides of trade potentials of each other.

Selahvarzi called on the Iranian ambassador to make every effort to reduce the risk of investment for Iranian trade actors in Guinea.

Referring to Iran’s advanced pharmaceutical industry, the president of Iran Chamber of Commerce said that Iran has to make use of Guinea’s exempting pharmaceutical imports from tariffs.

He also said that overseas farming is another area for cooperation with Guinea.

Iran’s new ambassador to Guinea, for his part, said that the ground for the presence of Iranian small and medium sized companies in Guinea is more prepared than long-term and large-scale investment in the country.

Noting that short-term investment in Guinea’s agricultural sector would be beneficial, he said that only 20% of the agricultural lands of Guinea are being used while the country has no water problem.

Parvizi voiced the embassy’s readiness for providing support for Iranian businesspeople and giving them the necessary information about trade in Guinea.
