Iran’s exports of food and agricultural products have registered a 19% year-on-year increase in the five months to August 22, according to an official with the knowledge of the matter.
Ruhollah Latifi, the caretaker of the Department of Monitoring and Foreign Trade of the Central Organization for Rural Cooperative of Iran, said that Iran exported as much as 3.053 tons of agricultural, food, livestock and seafood products in the period under review.
He said that the 15 neighboring countries of Iran received 94% of the weight and 84% of the value of the Iranian agrifood exports in the March-August period.
The official noted that Iraq was the top destination for Iran’s agrifood exports, receiving 43% of the weight and 37% of the value of Iran’s aggregate exports of the products in the time span.
The UAE, Russia, Pakistan and Afghanistan followed Iraq as the second to fifth leading destinations of Iranian agrifood exports in the mentioned period.
