Jahanbakhsh Sanjabi, the secretary general of Iran-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce, says Iran has to balance its trade with Iraq so as to revive its share of the Iraqi market.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Iran Chamber of Commerce newsroom, Sanjabi said that the Iraqi government is looking for convergence with Iran, but to avoid the consequences of the sanctions, it is seeking social, political and security interactions with Iran instead of economic exchanges.
Noting that the Iraqis prefer to get involved in economic activities with other countries, he said that Iran has to revive its share of the Iraqi market.
He urged the need for Iran to balance its trade with Iraq, turning it from a one-way into a two-way trade.
Sanjabi also underlined the urgency of preparing the grounds for signing a free trade agreement (FTA) or at least a preferential trade agreement (PTA) with Iraq.
Stressing the need for more presence in the Iraqi projects, he noted that besides exports of commodities, Iran has to export services to the country.
