Businesspeople from Iran and Algeria have stressed the need for forming a chamber of commerce between the two countries.

A business meeting of Iran and Algeria was held in the headquarters of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) in Tehran on Sunday as a 70-member Algerian trade delegation is in the Iranian capital to attend Iran Expo 2024.

Speaking during the meeting, Director of Arab-African Department of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Shahram Khassipour, said that Iran and Algeria can cooperate and make joint investments on different areas including, tourism, techno-engineering services, food industries, and production of gas products.

He underlined the need for both sides to facilitate visa requirements for businesspersons of the other country.

President of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kamel Hamenni also addressed the meeting and said that business actors of his country are willing to give a boost to relations with their Iranian counterparts.

He appreciated Iran’s visa services to Algerian businesspeople, adding that there are talks underway with the Algerian embassy in Tehran to facilitate visa issuance.

Hamenni added that there are efforts underway to increase the level of trade between Iran and Algeria to $1 billion.
