Iran’s president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian says he will cooperate with private sector to ensure economic growth.

He made the remarks during a visit to the headquarters of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) on Saturday where he met with a large group of Iranian private sector actors.

Noting that his administration will act based on expert views, Pezeshkian said that “one cannot fight with science and experience. Everybody must bow to right and expert views.”

He further said that he plans to form a committee for drawing an economic roadmap which will be comprised of representatives from the private sector, university, industry, the related governmental organizations and the ministry of foreign affairs

The committee will convene every three months, he added.

The president-elect also said that the industries have to be built in coastal areas which he believed would cut the costs of imports and exports and the expenses of water and electricity supply as well.

Pezeshkian defeated his rival Saeed Jalili in a runoff presidential election on July 5 to replace the late President Ebrahim Raisi who died in a helicopter crash in May.

He has repeatedly said that he intends to make use of the potentials of the private sector. Pezeshkian paid another visit to the chamber of commerce during his presidential campaign on June 24.

Iran’s private sector even has representatives in special committees to help the president-elect choose his cabinet ministers.

Pezeshkian has assigned committees to help him choose cabinet ministers and heads of the organizations.

The country’s private sector has been decided to have a representative in each committee who will be proposed by Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA).

The president-elect has asked the committees to introduce 3 to 5 candidates for each post.
