President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Samad Hassanzadeh has stressed the need for implementing a strategic 25-year cooperation deal between Iran and China.
He made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday with China’s ambassador to Iran Cong Peiwu.
Hassanzadeh referred to the policies of Iran’s newly-elected President Masoud Pezeshkian who is seeking more engagement with the world, especially the enhancement of trade and economic relations with China.
Iran needs foreign investments in the downstream copper industries, the Iran Chamber of Commerce president said, adding that China can participate in this area.
He also said that the ground is prepared for Chinese investment in Iran’s aluminum and power plant industries.
In response to a call by the Chinese ambassador for Iranian businesses to have an active presence in the 7th China International Import Expo due to be held in Shanghai in November, Hassanzadeh said that the event will provide a chance for Iranian businesspeople to get further familiar with China’s trade potentials.
He noted that the two countries can also make joint investments in different petrochemical, gas, oil, auto and space industries.
The Chinese ambassador, for his part, said that the Iranian economy is strongly moving forward despite the tough sanctions on the country.
He described his recent meeting with President Pezeshkian as promising, adding that Tehran and Beijing can give a boost to relations in line with their economic and political approaches.
The Chinese ambassador voiced his country’s readiness to engage in Iran’s mining project, especially in its copper mines, and noted that the embassy is working in close connection with Iran-China Joint Chamber of Commerce.
