Iranian steelmakers produced 28 million tons of crude steel in the first 11 months of 2024, marking a 0.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the latest report by the World Steel Association (WSA).
The report confirms that Iran has maintained its position as the world’s 10th largest steel producer during this period.
In November alone, Iran’s crude steel production reached 3.1 million tons, a modest 0.1% rise compared to November 2023.
Globally, crude steel production in the first 11 months of 2024 totaled over 1.694 billion tons, reflecting a 1.4% decline year-on-year. However, November’s global output showed a slight rebound, increasing by 0.8% to 146.8 million tons.
Iran’s steady growth in steel production highlights its resilience amid a challenging global market characterized by declining output in many regions.
