Bahram Shakouri, head of the Mining and Mineral Industries Commission at Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) has outlined a set of strategic priorities for drafting the country’s new development plan.

Speaking to Iran Chamber of Commerce newsroom, he said that Iran must adopt a forward-looking and realistic approach to secure its position in the global mining sector by 2051.

Shakouri stressed the importance of crafting achievable goals that align with the country’s actual capacities while addressing constraints and leveraging existing opportunities. He called for policy stability, underscoring the need for legal frameworks that ensure continuity in strategies and initiatives regardless of political changes.

Shakouri emphasized the centrality of technological innovation, noting that robust investments in digital infrastructure and advanced mining technologies, such as artificial intelligence, are critical for driving growth. He also highlighted the vital role of the private sector, academic institutions, and scientific experts in shaping and executing the Vision 2051 roadmap.

International collaboration was identified as another key pillar, with Shakouri urging greater engagement in global trade and production networks through enhanced economic and scientific diplomacy. Efficient resource management, focusing on sustainability and productivity, was also cited as a cornerstone of the strategy.

By adhering to these priorities, Shakouri envisions a mining sector capable of leading in innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness. He painted a future where Iran could emerge as a hub for cutting-edge mining technologies, environmentally friendly practices, and energy-efficient industries, while also expanding its footprint in international markets through quality-driven exports.

Shakouri concluded by describing Vision 2051 as a chance to bridge developmental gaps and position Iran as a leader in the global mining and industrial sectors, urging all stakeholders to work collectively toward this ambitious goal.
