Iran's Expediency Council plans to stablish a special committee to review the country's stance on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) after the issue was referred by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, at the request of President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani, Chairman of the Expediency Council, announced on Wednesday that a joint commission will be formed to thoroughly assess the FATF issue.

He said that the committee will include representatives from three key commissions: Economic, Political-Security-Defense, and Legal-Judicial Affairs.

Amoli Larijani emphasized that the matter is a technical issue related to the country's interests. He cautioned against political distractions clouding the issue.

The committee's work will focus on evaluating whether compliance with FATF regulations could lead to economic benefits for Iran, he said, adding that the Expediency Council will make the final decision in this regard based on the committee's findings.
