Iran’s tax revenues have increased by approximately 51% compared to the previous year, according to Mohammad Hadi Sobhanian, head of the Iranian National Tax Administration (INTA).

Sobhanian stated that the ratio of tax revenue to gross domestic product (GDP) has been on an upward trend since 2018, growing 7.7% this year.

He emphasized that reliance on tax revenues in the national budget has steadily increased over the past few years.

The Iranian government has been focusing on boosting tax collection efforts to offset the effects of US sanctions which have been chocking its main sources of revenue, including the oil industry.
