In an impeachment session on Sunday, the majority of the Iranian lawmakers voted to unseat the country’s Economy Minister Abdolnasser Hemmati.
The impeachment of the minister of economy happened less than seven months after President Masoud Pezeshkian took office.
The lawmakers in favor of Hemmati’s impeachment accused him for failing to curb soaring inflation and the increase in the foreign exchange rate.
182 members of parliament voted in favor of the impeachment, 82 others voted against it, with one abstention.
