Veteran Iranian industrialists have urged the government to focus on improving international relations and attracting foreign investment as key steps toward economic recovery.

The appeal came during a meeting of senior business figures at the Iran Chamber of Commerce headquarters on Wednesday, attended by its president, board members, and long-serving private sector leaders. The session aimed to review pressing economic challenges and discuss practical solutions.

Masoumeh Aghapour, presidential adviser for economic cooperation, and Mohammad Nouri, special assistant to the president for strategic projects, also took part in the gathering.

Abolfazl Roghani, the chamber’s adviser on business associations, said the revival of the veterans’ forum was intended to draw on decades of experience from industry leaders. “These individuals are the true owners of the chamber, who have developed industry, production and trade through their work,” he said. “We wanted to create a platform so that their voices, based on a lifetime of experience, are heard by policymakers.”

Speaking at the meeting, Nouri stressed the need for cooperation between the state and the private sector to drive economic momentum. “For a strong country, we must listen to the private sector and give it the space to act,” he said. “Some matters can only be advanced by the private sector, and the government should not interfere in them. It is necessary to start delegating these from today.”
