President of Iran Chamber of Commerce Samad Hassanzadeh (center) is speaking during a meeting in Tehran on January 27, 2026.

President of Iran Chamber of Commerce has urged the need for the government to take supportive measures for the vulnerable class of the society, saying foreign exchange reforms have to be pursued while taking social justice into consideration.

“Inflation caused by the removal of the subsidized foreign exchange has to be compensated to ensure the livelihood of the people, especially those in the first seven low-income deciles of the society,” Hassanzadeh said on Tuesday.

He said that implementing a single exchange rate policy was a “valuable decision taken at a very difficult time”.

Referring to recent protests in the country, Hassanzadeh said that the People were facing livelihood problems and their protests were justified. He, however, noted that economic operators and the Iran Chamber of Commerce are opposed to taking advantage of the protests to destroy public property.
