The president of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture has called on employers and state officials to prioritize job security and livelihood protections for workers, as the country faces economic pressures caused by the US-Israeli-imposed war.
In a message marking International Workers’ Day, Samad Hassanzadeh praised the Iranian labor force for its commitment to national production during the recent war and an earlier 12-day imposed war last June.
He said workers had upheld Iran’s flag in production and thwarted enemy plots through patriotism and dedication.
“Now that the noble workers of Islamic Iran have demonstrated their full readiness to protect the system in various arenas, all officials and employers in public and private sectors are obligated to adopt responsible measures to preserve employment capacity and address livelihood constraints,” Hassanzadeh said.
He added that Iran’s private sector has always emphasized safeguarding workers’ dignity and facilitating support for workers and their families as the core of production and services.
Representing the country’s private sector economic actors, Hassanzadeh urged the broader employer community to exert maximum effort and tact to maintain job security for workers, especially under current “harsh economic conditions” of economic warfare and psychological operations by Iran’s adversaries.
