Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Alireza Peyman Pak has said plans are underway for doubling the country’s non-oil exports over the next four years, the TPO portal reported.
Iran’s minister of trade Reza Fatemi Amin says non-crude exports from the country could surge by $5 billion in the second half of the calendar year to late March.
June quarter figures by Iran’s customs office IRICA shows that the country raised its exports of non-oil goods over the period by over two thirds compared to the same quarter in 2020.
Nuts and dried fruit exports reached 96,000 tons worth $212 million in the first two months of the current fiscal year (March 21-May 21), registering a 25% and 36% in weight and value respectively.
Iran exported 443,890 tons of dairy products worth $390 million in the last fiscal year (March 2020-21).
Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization will allocate $45 million to support the country’s non-oil exports, Hamid Zadboum, the head of the organization said.
A total of 324 tons of saffron worth $190 million were exported from Iran to 60 countries in the last fiscal year (March 2020-21), with five countries accounting for 79% of weight and 78% of the value of total shipments.
Iran’s foreign trade, excluding crude oil, declined to a 10-year low in the fiscal 2020-21.
Iran has earmarked a special fund to strengthen exports to African countries as it seeks to nearly double shipments to the region to $1.1 billion a year by March 2024.
Iran’s House of Innovation and Technology Exports was launched on Tuesday in Damascus, Syria, to boost scientific and economic relations.
