In the first six months of the Iranian calendar year (started on March 21), the Persian Gulf Star refinery in southern Iran produced over 20% more gasoline than that of last year’s corresponding period, according to an official with the knowledge of the issue.
Soroush Ziglari, the deputy for production affairs of the Persian Gulf Star Oil Company, said that the refinery which is the main Iranian gasoline producer has undergone major developmental plans this year.
Ziglari hailed the refinery’s gasoline production which he said has helped the country meet its rising needs for gasoline during summer peak travel times.
He said that the Persian Gulf Star Oil Company has been put under recent US sanctions against Iran which he believed aimed at disrupting the supply of consumable fuel, logistics and transport fleet, power plants and infrastructure of the country and undermining the security and comfort of the Iranian people.
Ziglari, however, said that the Persian Gulf Star refinery will turn into a major modern petro refinery to meet the products needed by the country.
The refinery is the biggest world producer of gas condensates and produces more than 40% of Iran’s gasoline.
